Behold the Studio

Filed under: Uncategorized — by serendipper @ 1:04 am

I have finally finished converting the formal dining room in our town home into a studio!

View as you walk in the front door. A screen separates the room from the entry. The three cabinets in this photo were purchased for $10 each at the Dallas Habitat for Humanity Outlet Store. The gray ones are available at Home Depot as well. One gray cabinet holds nothing but books, one holds misc. supplies, and the blue cabinet holds beads.

Come around the corner and you are assaulted by color! An Indian bedspread hangs in front of the window. My free metal desk and file cabinet were painted burgundy by the previous owners. I have supply storage piled high. The vaulted ceilings have allowed me to hang pictures salon style on the walls. This desk holds paper crafting supplies.

Next to my desk I have shelving which holds more junk. Those shelves are the most expensive piece of furniture in the room at $25. The door is to the laundry room, and I have hung shelves for more of my junk in there too. My cat likes to sit on the railing and chew on my plant. Bad kitty!

Behind the folding screen is the roll top desk my mom bought me when I was 12. It was unfinished pine, and my brother stained it for me. That thing has been hauled across half the country. Roll tops hide a multitude of sins inside. This desk holds all my rubber stamp and polymer clay supplies. The white 5 drawer cart holds more beads. I’ve had that table forever too. I painted the top with a scrabble board and a checker board. The scrabble tiles are 2 inch ceramic tiles.

Here’s a close-up of my desk. A shelf sits on two drawer units, and boxes are piled on top of that. My scanner and all manner of cords fit under the shelf. I was also able to fit a 3 drawer cart on top of the desk. And I have dual monitors. Yayz!

And lastly, here’s a shot of the interior of the blue cabinet and all my beads.

Now that everything is set up, I can start making more jewelry. Oak Cliff Artisans will have it’s spring show in May, and I also hope to get my things in at least one more store this spring.

Now I also have room to invite people over and have crafting parties!

  1. OOOOOOooooo my dearrrrrrrrr!!! It looks so wonderful and organized and easy to work in!
Now you just need a rolly chair to zip around the room in comfort!
